From recommendation to a traceable result

A recommendation needs to be followed through. What supported it? Was it carried out? Did conditions change? How did the result differ from expectations? Keep these answers in one record, including the gaps in the evidence. The fictional hotel channel scenario below explains the approach. It is not a customer case study or a claim of operating results.

Conversion falls. Why not lower the rate?

Suppose a hotel’s channel traffic stays relatively steady while booking conversion falls after the details page. Several explanations need checking: unclear benefits, unavailable inventory, weak photography or a less attractive price. A conversion drop alone does not establish that the rate should fall.

The first recommendation in this example is to check the details page and inventory while watching rates and guest mix. Record the observation window, sources and missing information so the review can reconstruct what was known at the time.

How do you know the advice was acted on?

Once a recommendation becomes a task, keep the responsible role, execution time, setting changes and supporting evidence. A completed status does not show what changed. An after screenshot alone does not establish a comparable before-and-after view.

The H.OS operating record connects recommendations with work on the floor. Owners can expand the evidence behind a conclusion. Managers can trace an action to its requirements. Staff submissions return to the same record.

Does a rebound prove the advice worked?

In the example, conversion improves after the details page is updated. That is worth following, but traffic, guest mix, rates or holiday demand may also have changed. Sequence alone does not establish cause.

A review should separate three questions: Was the action completed? Did the metric change? How much of that change can reasonably be attributed to the action? When observation is limited, keep tracking rather than crediting one recommendation with all the growth.

What should inform the next decision?

Keep the conditions under which something worked, unsuccessful attempts and explanations that remain unconfirmed. These records help narrow the next investigation and show which conditions have changed.

The owner intelligence page illustrates this path through recommendation, action and review. The point is to follow the advice and preserve the source of the result, gradually building an understanding of the hotel.
